I learned a good amount when writing this paper. The paper gave me an opportunity to reflect on myself and my literary career in which I mention in the paper. My primary literary element that I learned pertained to typing. When you get into my paper, you’ll be able to see it. The targeted audience for my paper was people who I could relate to. I feel as if some people may not be able to relate to my paper because it has to do with video games along with technology and typing. Some people may not even understand what I’m talking about in my paper and they could overall be confused with some terms or references I’m making like with the games or apps I mention. When it comes to my targeted audience, I tend to speak in a really laid back and casual tone towards my audience. I type as if I was actually conversing with them as I personally feel that typing in that way just makes things easier to explain. If I was forced to write in a formal way that goes against my slang and the way I speak, It’d be much harder to explain things. I speak casually to appeal towards others as I feel that ‘dumbing’ down things may be more entertaining persae instead of being so formal. A lot of people know that I am really smart but I choose to act dumb to entertain and connect with others in a goofy way. It’s just how I choose to act. I express it in how I typed my paper and I am pretty proud of it. It feels pretty good that I don’t have to switch up my language since I am targeting an audience that will understand what I am talking about and for those who don’t necessarily understand, they are able to learn based on what I typed about. I suppose some of the meaningful insights I had gained through writing this paper was being able to reflect on my growth as a communicator when it comes to typing along with how I speak with my friends and others. It’s really interesting to compare myself back then to now and remember the things I’ve done to obtain my goal of being a better typer, to also remember how I used to speak to others and how I speak now. I’ve developed as a person exponentially and this writing piece allowed me to understand that interesting development. It was pretty nostalgic to think about the things that I mentioned in my paper and it allows me to also continue developing my literary skills. I don’t really think there is a term or necessarily a concept that really impacted my learning skills. I believe it might be a mix of a few things but I can’t really pinpoint one specific thing. I believe the idea of information receiving along with social interaction really helped in aiding my literary development. When it came to typing, I really learned because of being social with people online. I was able to type with people and even learn from others online. As I mentioned in the essay and I was more indebted about, I spoke on the games I played as a kid, one of which being an online game that allowed typing. I also explained my connection with Youtube and such and how I learned stuff from watching videos when I was younger. This connects with social interaction and information receiving pretty well and if it wasn’t for those main points in my life, I probably wouldn’t be that well of a typer in general. I believe this falls under the category of genre maybe. The different genres impacting how I learned throughout my life and experiences. The slang terms I’ve learned and the way I taught myself how to type connected well with how I practiced my writing. This assignment, I believe, definitely connects well with the idea of “[Understanding] and [using] print and digital technologies to address a range of audiences.” This practice kind of gives me a way to speak to a less formal audience and speak in my own way to explain my situation and how my literary topic really impacted how I learned, in this case, how to type and communicate with others. It definitely expands my horizon abit and lets me understand the difference between a less formal paper compared to one that may be much more formal. Throughout my school life, most of the papers I had to write were definitely formal and much more strict in terms of what had to be written. It is pretty refreshing to be able to type in the way that I am much more comfortable in writing and it allows me to be able to speak on the topic that I wanted to speak about in a much more descriptive way without the fear of being criticized for the way I type. I believe that this paper allowed me to understand and compare how an informal paper may look compared to the possibility of having to write a more formal one in the future. It is good practice and allows creative freedom since as I mentioned, a good amount of papers I had to write in the past were much more strict and restricted creative freedom as it was a set, specific topic that we had to write about. I personally dislike said topics and rather be able to speak my mind out. This is partially one of the reasons I really enjoy debate styled papers and such as it allows me to debate or persuade in a somewhat creative way using evidence I can choose and organize it in the way that I want. In class, the creative freedom is refreshing from how Highschool and Middle School used to be. I am prepared for other types of papers and this gives me a good set example on what an informal paper can look.
